THE JANE
About
Located in Rohrmoser, one of Costa Rica’s most evolving urban neighborhoods, The Jane responds to a city in transition. Surrounded by parks, cafés, and a growing pedestrian culture, the project occupies a context where former single-family streets are steadily giving way to increasing density. Rather than competing through height, the building introduces a more measured scale — a six-story residential structure that integrates naturally into the urban fabric while reinforcing a more walkable and connected street life. Its presence feels contemporary yet grounded, shaped by the belief that density can coexist with intimacy.
Inspired by the urban thinking of Jane Jacobs, the project embraces architecture as part of a larger social experience. The façade layers perforated metal screens, greenery, and recessed balconies to create depth, privacy, and a changing rhythm across the elevation. Shared spaces extend this philosophy inward, where open lounges, wellness areas, and garden-facing amenities encourage interaction and everyday use. Interiors balance warmth and restraint through exposed concrete, wood, and natural textures, creating spaces that feel both urban and residential. The result is a building designed not only as a place to live, but as an active participant in the life of the neighborhood — human-scaled, permeable, and connected to the city around it.
